Last updated · 17 June 2025 Character Alarm (“Character Alarm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your rights. By installing or using the iOS app Character Alarm (the “App”), you consent to the practices described below. If you disagree, please do not use the App. 1. Information We Collect & Why Alarm settings (time, recurrence, chosen character): These details are entered by you so the App can schedule and trigger alarms with the correct character; they stay only on your device and are never transmitted elsewhere. Microphone access during an “incoming alarm call”: The Microphone access during an “incoming alarm call”: The mic is accessed to record your voice and chat with character in alarm call. Device metadata (e.g., iPhone model, iOS version): Basic, non-identifiable device info is collected automatically to help with diagnostics and UI optimisation and is sent to our analytics service only in aggregated, anonymised form. Crash and usage analytics (optional): If you opt in, anonymised crash logs and feature-usage events are sent to Firebase to improve stability and prioritise new features; nothing is stored on your device. Network activity for character assets: When you download new character voices or sound packs, the required files are fetched from our servers and then stored locally; only the asset requests (containing no personal data) travel off-device. Data minimisation: We collect only what is strictly necessary for functionality or legitimate improvement of the App. 2. How We Use Your Information 1. Provide core functionality (schedule, trigger, and simulate incoming-call alarms). 2. Operate CallKit “alarm calls.”We present your scheduled character alarms as VoIP calls via CallKit to give you a richer, phone-like wake-up experience. And we never access your contacts or call history. 3. Improve and maintain the App, including debugging, crash analytics, and feature planning. 4. Deliver local notifications (alarm reminders). 5. Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use. 3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK users) We process your data under: - Performance of a contract – to deliver the service you request; - Legitimate interests – to maintain and improve the App; - Consent – for optional analytics; you may withdraw in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security. 4. Sharing & Disclosure - No sale of personal data. - Third-party processors – Firebase Crashlytics / Analytics receive only anonymised, aggregated events. - Legal or safety reasons – we may disclose information if required by law or to protect users, the public, or our rights. 5. Data Security We deploy industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. Despite our efforts, no mobile or cloud transmission is ever 100 % secure; use the App at your own risk. 6. Data Retention & Deletion We will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and processed, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, accounting or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for your Personal Information, we will consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Information, the potential risk from unauthorized use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process Personal Information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and applicable legal requirements. If you choose to delete the App from your device (note that deletion of the App does not mean that your account is deleted – please contact us at support@characteralarm.app if you wish to delete your account) or your account becomes inactive, we will retain your Personal Information for a period of five (5) years in case you decide to re-activate the Services or re-install the App. We have determined that this retention period is appropriate taking into account the factors described above and based on our experience with our App users, in order to secure your smooth experience with our App functions. You may delete your account and erase your Personal Information at any time in our App or contact us at support@characteralarm.app. Please note that if you choose to do this, your Personal Information will not be recoverable should you later create another account. Please note that, in all cases, we may need to retain Personal Information for a longer period where we are subject to legal or regulatory requirements to do so. 7. Your Rights Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: - Access – obtain a copy of personal data we hold. - Rectify – correct inaccurate data (mostly in-app). - Erase – delete personal data (uninstalling the App removes on-device data). - Object / restrict – limit certain processing (e.g., opt-out of analytics). - Data portability – receive data in a structured format. - Withdraw consent – disable microphone, notifications, or analytics in iOS Settings. Contact us (Section 11) to exercise these rights. 8. Children’s Privacy Character Alarm is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided personal data, contact us so we can delete it. 9. International Transfers Analytics data may be processed on servers outside your country. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards where required. 10. Changes to This Policy We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or on this page and become effective once posted. Please review periodically. 11.
